The winner of the 2024 SDCN International Talent of the Year Award

Tonight we had the great pleasure to announce the winner of the 2024 SDCN International Talent of the Year Award – Sameena Tarannum!
The SDCN International Talent of the Year Award recognizes an exceptional member of SDCN and honors them for their professional achievements in Stockholm, their active participation in the network, their drive and determination in pursuing opportunities, and their integration into the social and professional milieu of Sweden.
The award ceremony took place at the Welcome Reception for International Scholars at Stockholm City Hall. The reception is organized by Stockholms Akademiska Forum in cooperation with Stockholms stad.
Olle Burell, President of the Stockholm City Council and Vice Chairman of Stockholms Akademiska Forum, opened the reception, followed by a speech by Gustav Amberg, Vice Chancellor of Södertörn University. At the awards ceremony, Sophia Wallin, Senior Strategist at Stockholms Akademiska Forum, introduced the nominees and the winner. The other nominees were Katharina Weinberger, Gilbert Senior Agyiri-Tete and Manish Gupta.

The winner and the nominees:
Sameena Tarannum, Mathematics Teacher, Internationella Engelska Skolan
Sameena Tarannum, from India, stands out for her ambitious and curious attitude. Her exceptional determination has been a true inspiration to other members and she has played an active role contributing to a friendly atmosphere within the SDCN community. An experienced mathematician, Stockholm is lucky that she is now inspiring the next generation with her passion for mathematics.
Katharina Weinberger, Clinical Trial Assistant, IQVIA
Katharina Weinberger, a recent graduate from Germany, has quickly managed to navigate and find her role in Stockholm’s dynamic life science ecosystem. Her dedication, in combination with her strong academic background and impressive Swedish skills, makes her a promising talent in her field as well as an inspiration for the SDCN community.
Gilbert Senior Agyiri-Tete, Data Controller, Quartr
Gilbert Senior Agyiri-Tete, from Ghana, lights up every room with his smile and optimistic outlook. With the aim to make a difference in the world of finance, he consistently seeks out new challenges and is always eager to learn and grow. His enthusiasm, hard work and remarkable ability to seize opportunities is a great inspiration for us all.
Manish Gupta, Credit Underwriter, Citi
Manish Gupta, from India, provides a calming steadiness to those around him. Combined with an ambitious mindset, proactive-nature, and desire to help others, it’s no surprise that he quickly landed a role at Citi’s Stockholm office and is already spreading the work about SDCN. Manish’s thankful spirit, adaptability, and kind demeanor make him a joy to be around.
