Stockholm International Researchers Association – SIRAP – is organizing an event about nuances and delicacies of the Swedish culture. Learn about how your own cultural background affect your communication skills. An exciting opportunity for everyone to learn more about themselves and others.

How does your cultural background affect your communication skills?

On Tuesday 25th February, Karin Knutsson will talk about the importance of inter-cultural communication skills and how ICC skills will help you to overcome obstacles in facing everyday life in a new culture. Focus is given on the Swedish culture, discussing attitudes and values behind festivities and celebrations as well as ordinary life such as ”3 o’clock fika” or berry picking in the forest.

Come and learn more about Swedes and Sweden and comprehend nuances and delicacies of the Swedish culture.

About Karin Knutsson:

– Is founder and owner of the company CultureMind.
– Has worked with international students and European student exchange programs for 20 years.
– Currently working at the Department of Communications and International Relations at Kungliga Tekniska Högskolan, and has done so since 2002.

Karin will tell us about:

  • The importance of ICC
  • Non-verbal Communication
  • Cultural Artifacts and Cultural Values
  • Key Cultural Aspects in Sweden
  • How to be Polite, Orally and in Writing
  •  Dos and Dont’s in Sweden
  •  Tips for everyday life in Sweden

We are pleased to invite you to a friendly mingle over snacks which start at 17:30 followed by the intriguing lecture.
