University College of Music Education in Stockholm

Ian Plaude is the Director for the University College of Music Education in Stockholm (Stockholms Musikpedagogiska Institut, SMI). He moved to Sweden from Australia in 1993 after graduating with a Bachelor of Music Education majoring in Aural, Music Theory and Pedagogy from the Australian National University, Canberra. He holds a Master’s degree in Music Education from the Royal College of Music in Stockholm (KMH), where he also worked as a music theory teacher and in senior management before becoming the Director of the Stockholm University College of Music Education (SMI) in 2008. Apart from his duties at SMI, Ian also has many years’ experience as a choir conductor.
